Upon entering the office you will be warmly greeted by Deb and then you'll have some forms to fill out telling us about you and your health history.
Dr. Heeren will then sit down with you and review your health history listening to any complaints or concerns you may have that brought you to the office.
He will then perform a thorough evaluation of your spine and nervous system as well as other areas of complaint. Often times this will involve a computerized surface EMG exam which allows Dr. Heeren to quickly determine the presence of elevated muscle activity or imbalance that may be associated with spinal subluxations. In most cases X-Rays are also taken to evaluate spinal alignment and function, determine the condition of your spine and to rule out any pathology.
On your next visit all of your exam findings and x-rays will be fully explained. All of your questions will be answered and if you are a chiropractic case a plan of care will be recommended. This plan of care will typically involve specific chiropractic spinal adjustments to correct subluxations in your spine thereby removing interference to your nervous system, improving spinal alignment and function and your health. Exercises and postural changes are often recommended and spinal pelvic stabilizers (custom orthotics) to support a proper foot foundation are sometimes utilized to help enhance your body's performance and efficiency, reduce pain and contribute to your total body wellness. Dr Heeren primarily uses the Pierce results system for spinal analysis and adjusting. Adjustments are mostly done using a table with special drop pieces as well as an Arthrostim adjusting instrument which allows Dr. Heeren to comfortably create more motion in the spine with less force.
